Intervention de Véra Léon "From visual history of education to the history of the training of the eyes", 'University of Birmingham, Room 139, School of Education (Building R19), Tuesday 12th June 2018 (13:00-14:30).

Vocational training was a key issue in industrial development after the Second World War, in the context of increasing economic competition between nations in Western Europe. In the photographic field, the massive development of cheaper cameras jeopardized some professional activities, among them portrait photography. In the face of this competition from amateur photographers, many stakeholders in the photographic industries and trade unions encouraged the development of photographic training to better distinguish professional photographers.
