Tina Sikka viendra présenter son nouvel ouvrage, “Building Alternative Sexual Worlds: Sexual Ethics in the Post #MeToo Era” (Bloomsbury Press, 2027), sur les nouvelles formes de justice après #MeToo.
Dr. Sikka will talk about her new book “Building Alternative Sexual Worlds: Sexual Ethics in the Post #MeToo Era” (Bloomsbury Press, 2027) which begins with a critical assessment our contemporary ‘sexual state of play.’ Sikka argues that our current consent-based model of sexual ethics is refracted through law, the rise of social media, the #MeToo movement, political polarization, and changing gender norms in ways that are increasingly problematic. Research on current sexual norms also reflects compelling empirical evidence of dissatisfaction vis-a-vis consent as a lodestar of sexual ethics (particularly amongst university students). The combination of this social and critical analysis with creative arts workshops I conducted in 2022 produced significant findings related to the kinds of sexual futures that are possible and the policies, norms, and actions that are needed to enact them. This book aims to traverse this terrain and do so with the objective of practical and imaginative world building by engaging with experiential forms knowledge that are often overlooked.
